Alcazar in Seville, Spain

On January 23, 2009 we went the fortified palace, Alcazar.  The palace was amazing!! Here is what I thought was cool.

The architecture was amazing.  The outside looks like a fort you would imagine in a fairy tale.  On the inside it looked like a large palace, with several different buildings and courtyards.  This palace’s construction began in 913 AD (most kings and queens added something to the palace).  In the palace there were a ton of rooms.  Most of the rooms had decorations from the floor to the ceiling.  My favorite room was the prince’s room because it had a skylight.  The prince’s room got its name because a prince was born in there.

The gardens in this palace are huge, about 5 city blocks.  In these gardens there are huge fountains, big trees, and peacocks.  Abby and my mom tired to get very close to the peacocks.  One fountain has 2 ladies that are not dressed.  Another has a water fall and the rest are about the same.  My favorite part of the whole palace was the maze (located in the garden).  The maze was made was made out of bushes.

This palace is important because a lot of kings and queens lived there (the present king and queen stay there when they come to Seville).  Another reason this palace is important is because Christopher Columbus went there to see King Ferdinand and Queen Isabelle for his 2nd trip to America.

The palace was very fun touring and if you ever go to Spain I think you should see the palace Alcazar. I hope we can go here again.
