Christmas Time in Fethiye, Turkey

Here are some pictures from Christmas Eve and Christmas day in Fethiye Turkey.  You will see a picture of our Christmas tree.  We bought it while we were in Cypress.  Sounds exotic?  It is plastic imported straight from China, but it is a Christmas tree which is hard to come by in Turkey!

We had a Christmas Eve feast at the fish market.  We had been doing some shopping in the old city during the day and mentioned to on shop keeper that we planned to go for a fish dinner at the fish market.  He closed his shop and brought us to his trusted restaurant.  It is quite an experience, you pick out the fish you want to eat and then bring it to the restaurant to be cooked.  If you select the restaurant before you pick out the fish, the waiter comes with you to the fish stalls where you negotiate the price with the fish mongel and how it will be prepared with the waiter.  All this amongst the market commotion and in Turkish.  The shop keeper ended up eating with us… he and Bobby had a few too many Raki’s.  This caused the shop keeper to be more talkative and his English less coherent!  It was a fun and interesting Christmas Eve!

Santa found the Peltons in Turkey.  We enjoyed a relaxed Christmas morning… uneventful besides Mayaugust almost cutting her finger tip off while preparing breakfast.  Some of you worry about us traveling in foreign lands, but we our hazards have nothing to do with traveling!
