Spanish Classes

Currently, in Seville we have been taking Spanish lessons.  The Spanish lessons are very fun.  I think we are learning a lot, but it’s not easy. So this is what it’s been like taking Spanish classes.

Our Spanish teacher knows a lot of English but, talks to us only in Spanish, which is a great way to learn.  When we learn a new word, we draw a picture of it so we don’t translate in our heads.  For example, if we just learned Niña we draw a picture of someone wearing a dress.  The categories that we learned are animals, parts of a face, vocabulary for going to the hair salon, pronouns, school supplies, rooms and the items in rooms, telling time, and asking time.  These are just a few of the words we’ve learned: Estoy terminada con mi tralajo mami, Niña, Niño, Medico, casa, gato, mesa, reloj, perro, canion, ojos, lapiz, and nariz.  See if you can guess what everything means.

On a regular day we will wake up around 9:30 and eat breakfast around 10:00.  Then we do our school work until 3:30 and have Spanish class at 4:00.  Abby, my mom, and I enjoy taking Spanish lessons in Spain because we don’t just learn the words, we actually have to use them.  We like taking classes together because we can help each other understand.

I hope that one day I’ll be fluent in Spanish, or close to it. I’m very exited that we get to learn Spanish and then go out and use it.  I’m glad we get to learn and build our vocabulary of Spanish.  Our days are also more full and we learn more.
