A Day in Bodrum, Turkey

We did a quick visit to a great town called Bodrum.  We would have stayed longer, but our room ranked up there with the worst hotel rooms we have stayed in.  The town was upbeat and layed back at the same time.

We got back into homeschooling mode for the first time in a while.  Since Jessie is only with us for one week while Eliza and Abby are “back at school”, I wasn’t sure how I was going to make this work.  She already had assignments to complete from Baltimore School for the Arts so I was reluctant to add to her workload and figured she was getting a bit of an education just experiencing Turkey.  While, when we got the Underwater Archeological Museum and the girls got to work on their project, the magic happened.  Jessie read an informational plaque about the Mulberry tree being dedicated to lovers because of story in Greek mythology involving a scenario sounding suspiciously similar to Romeo and Juliet. Eliza listened to Jessie as she was making this connection and decided that would be an excellent subject to write about for her school work.  So Jessie worked with Eliza, describing the plot of Romeo and Juliet and relating it to the Greek Mythology.  Very cool.
