Life in Sevilla

Time is flying by!  I can’t believe we have been in Seville for 2 weeks.  It feels like we have just settled into a routine.  The first challenge was getting used to the Siesta time.  I had heard about Siesta, but I didn’t believe that things actually close for several hours, smack in the middle of the day.  Not in a modern country!  But it really does happen.  The guide books say that shops close from 2:30 to 5 PM and people go home, eat lunch and presumably take a nap.  Well, it is not quite so… the shops start closing at 1:30!  For a short time after the retail shops close, you can get a meal at a restaurant, but after that, everything is shut down.  It seems we are forever caught in the abyss, venturing out when everything is shutting down and then you can’t get something to eat until 8pm!

Homeschooling has been a great experience for both me and the girls.  Generally, we work on academics in the morning, eat lunch, and then we find a museum or cultural sight to visit.  Since homeschooling, working on my classes and Bobby’s writing takes up the bulk of most days, we decided to put some pictures of that (I know, not that exciting).     There are pictures of us around town.  There is a lot of great green space here with gorgeous old trees that are hard to resist climbing.  You’ll see Bobby with his birthday morning pancakes, the flamenco dancers, a street performer blowing up a surgical glove over his face, and some pictures of us in Alcazar, the official residence of the King and Queen.

We are having a great time, just living in Sevilla!
